Wingman Facebook Online Cards

In case you're not out at a bar or coffee shop, you can now send a Wingman card through Facebook to your friends, acquaintances, or people you want to meet or date. It's a much more creative and effective way to send a message to a stranger.

Instructions;

1. Go to Facebook and click on "Send [Name] a Message"
2. Create a short message and then click on "Post Link", which is below the text input box
3. Copy and Paste the URL of the card you want to appear in the message. Even though the cards look small in your message, the recipient will see an image sized similar to below.

Wingwoman of the Month

The WingWOman of the month goes to Ali, a San Fran native, who hosted a Memorial Day party with a Wingman twist. In the backyard of her house, where the party was held, she attached Wingman cards to a tree for guests to easily grab the cards and share them with each other.

I stopped by, and although most of the party-goers already knew each other, they were definitely interested in the cards and using them in the outside world.

Congratulations Ali! And thanks for spreading the love around Seattle.

Wingman Memorial Day Party

The Wingman Cards were out and about on Memorial Day weekend in a new and creative way. In a "Memorial Day Weekend, Late Afternoon Backyard Beirut Tourney" party, the Wingman cards were hung in the backyard on branches of a tree (yes, those are tree leaves). It's great to see people using the cards, and now trees, in creative ways to meet new people.

Wingman Update

Hi Wingman fans,

I wanted to pass along a brief update on the Wingman cards. It's been a bit slow going but we're redoing the website into something that's a bit more fancy and I think you'll be impressed. We have one of the best graphic designers on the job and he's excited to make Wingman look brand new.

On the product side, we're getting in another shipment of cards after selling out all the others. We're also excited to see them on stands around Seattle soon. It is my expectation, as the Wingman, that the effectiveness of the card will only increase with popularity; they will be more accepted as a means to communicate interest and extend the conversation online.

So what does this all mean? Well, lots of exciting things. Once the website is complete you can look forward to much more frequent blog posts, videos, tutorials, pictures and more. On the product side, we're hoping to have it launched and public at the same time as the updated website to generate the most buzz around the newest form of finding quality dates and possibly love.

I look forward to hearing all the success stories.

Women Who Pass Wingman Cards Bat 1000

So far the women who have used the Wingman card to find dates have bat a 1000, which means that they always receive responses. It makes sense to me. If a woman passed me a card that said she was interested and wanted to get to know me better online before going on a date I would definitely send her a message.

Here's one story I've heard from a successful Wingman card pass. This lady was driving down 45th when she saw a cute guy in the car next to her. At the stop light, which are every block on 45th, she quickly filled out a card, rolled down her window, and handed the card to the cute passenger. Later that night when she checked her Facebook messages she had already received a message from the guy in the car. Wow, that's impressive.

Ok, we don't provide a traffic school but I liked this picture and no...this is not the lady who passed the card.

Wingman of the Week: Andy Bernard

Unfortunately, there was not a Wingman card shout out on the television show The Office but Dwight and Andy did discuss being a good Wingman. In this episode, Andy Bernard made a very noble and Wingman like gesture, so we have decided to make Andy Bernard the Wingman of the week.

Dwight and Andy Bernard, two of the best characters, have become friends (Season 5, episode 21 "The Michael Scott Paper Company"). After a fierce battle for Angela's love in the previous season, they have managed to bridge a friendship through a common activity; hunting. But now there is a new lady in the office, an attractive receptionist who replaced Pam, and the two men do not want to compete again for the same woman, a potentially devastating situation for their friendship. The conversation went as follows:

Andy: "The last thing I want to do is step on your funk man"
Dwight: "And I yours. So I will seed her to you..."
Andy: "No, that is ridiculous"
Dwight: "No, no, no"
Andy: "Look, you've been here longer and besides, I'm a better Wingman than I am boyfriend"
Dwight: "...and I just want you and I to hang out...you know?"

Dwight and Andy give each other a pound signifying their agreement and their bond as friends.

Dwight: "Boom"

Finding a Girlfriend with a Wingman Card

A few months ago I was out with friends when a very attractive young lady walked into the bar and happened to look my way (she later told me that she was scanning the room for a friend and definitely NOT checking me out). Nevertheless, I grabbed a WM card and wrote down; I think you are "very attractive", If you think I am "a decent guy" please contact me online. Then I walked over to her and presented the card.

"Excuse me," I said as I handed her the card.

She read the front then turned it over, let out a sincere laugh and said, "This is really funny and creative. Can I keep this?"

"Definitely. And I hope to hear from you soon," I replied then walked back to my friends.

A day later I received a message on Facebook titled, "The Wingman Girl", with a message about how she thought the card was very clever. We exchanged a few messages and I noticed we had a mutual friend via the "Mutual Friends" section of Facebook (another great thing about meeting people with a WM is that you can often get a reference before you go out on a date).

To find out more information about this somewhat mysterious WM Girl, I sent a message to our mutual friend asking for a scouting report. From our mutual friend, I received valuable information about the WM Girl, such as her personality, her past relationships, and her time in college. By the time WM Girl and I went on a date I knew she was very attractive (from meeting at the bar), educated (from her Facebook profile), shared common interests (Facebook profile info), funny (from our online messages), and a good person (from our mutual friend). The ability to find out all this information before the first date is why Wingman cards find quality dates instead of just dates.

We went out a week later and had a wonderful evening together. After a few more dates, one of which was bowling, a personal date favorite of mine, we were officially a couple and stayed together for several months. We are not still together but she is a wonderful lady and we still keep in touch.

This week's Wingman card was handed out by one of the founders of a delicious sustainable sandwich shop called Home Grown. He passed it to my friend who apparently was not a trustworthy beer pong player.

Wingman Facebook Group...and Twitter Feed

It took awhile but now we are officially going public with the Facebook Wingman card group. Since the WM card is often used to connect people around you to the online world of Facebook, and other online mediums, such as MySpace and email, it is only appropriate to have a FB group. Also, that's what all the 'social media' people say should be done...and they know all.

I also started a Wingman Twitter account but I'm not sure how long that's going to last. Updating people on Wingman's happenings every so often seems foolish to me but we're testing it out. For the Twitter account, search Wingmancard or go here Twitter.

About the Wingman Card

My friends and I kept complaining about how hard it was to find people to date; we were too busy, stuck hanging out with the same people, or just lazy. We had relied on school, friends, and family for introductions and now sadly those days were gone.

So a buddy and I set out to solve our problems by spending our nights frequenting coffee shops and bars. Finding attractive women was easy; getting a date with them was not. When we did get the courage to approach a lady we were usually awkwardly rejected, ignored or rudely dismissed. After numerous failed attempts I started looking for alternatives.

Initially, I tried to meet people online. Sitting behind my computer I felt confident sending messages to friends of friends or even strangers through social networking sites. Unfortunately, I was usually disregarded as a stranger or worse, a stalker (I also couldn’t pay so much of an online service). This is when I thought, how could I easily connect the people around me, people I saw everyday, to the online world without getting rejected or coming off sleazy?

That’s when I created the Wingman card. It is a fun, personalized, and polite way to approach the people I saw on the bus, at the coffee shop, in the grocery store, and at the bar without getting rejected or feeling like a slime ball, and it actually worked.

At first I didn’t know how to use them properly well, I would usually just drop them off at a table and leave. But then I talked to two Cougars at a bar. They told me that when I gave a lady a card I had to present myself, I had to walk up to the woman, hand her the card and say, “I hope to hear from you some time”. This way I was polite, fun, and still manly. When I started using this technique, with the creativity of the Wingman card, I started to get dates and even a girlfriend. That’s when I thought if they could work for us, they could work for others...and that's when Wingmancard.com was born.

The best part of the card is hearing others use them and have success. Check out messages I've already received here. It’s gratifying to know that WM cards are making meeting new people and dating a little easier. How to Effectively Use a Wingman Card

1. When you see someone you find attractive/interesting/intriguing fill out a Wingman card.

Possible words to use: attractive, hot, sexy, cute, interesting, intriguing, smart, nice

2. Don't wait. Approach the person and say, “excuse me” and hand them the card

3. Stand there while they read it.

4. After they're done reading say, “I hope to hear from you soon”.

5. If they don’t ask you a question turn around and walk away.

Hopefully they'll message you on email, Facebook, or MySpace. If you don’t have a FB or MySpace account just write in your email (or create an account here). Pretty simple huh?

Wingman in the Cafeteria

A little story from a buddy of mine not having the courage to talk to a lady in the cafeteria but after hearing about the Wingman card he made it rain:

"here's a little story......
im sitting in a dining hall at bu two nights ago by myself eating dinner. i walk by and make eye contact with this girl who was in my discussion last year, who is definitely hot, and with whom i have definitely made eye contact before. never talked to her though, except maybe once in discussion. i see her around all the time and i wish i talked to her. these are the exact thoughts running through my mind at that moment. so she's with a friend 2 tables away yackety yackin and i reach in my coat pocket for no good reason and pull out my wingman card that i forgot was in there since thanksgiving. after laughing to myself about the irony of the situation i decided to not give it to her, after putting much thought into it, sort of because i didnt have the courage and sort of because i didnt know if i should walk away or not after i gave it to her... i didnt have the protocol down.

the point of the story is, i went home, checked out the website, learned the technique and next time i see her, its on.

so im gonna order some packs online now."

Wingman Works on Biggest Bar Night of the Year

I just received an email from a college kid who used the Wingman card on the night before Thanksgiving, which is apparently the biggest bar night of the year:

"Hey Wingman,
A girl I handed it [the Wingman card] to sent me this on Facebook yesterday...

Hello,

You gave me a wingman card at Bar in New Haven so just wanted to say thank
you and let you know that pretty much made my night. So thanks!

She is really hot, so I guess those cards work. Thanks for hooking me up."

Way to go man! I posted this picture because it's apparently happy clients for some cheesy company. I found it after googling 'testimonials' and clicking on images. Hope the date went well!
